Central to the festival will be programming commissions from around the world featuring film, pop, visual arts, theatre, fashion, circus, carnival and opera. The festival is expecting an audience of more than 3 million people featuring over 1000 events. This is going to be a spectacular festival that will probably never be repeated.
A website covering the London 2012 Festival will be live in the summer of 2011. Tickets will go on sale in October 2011. Some events will be ticketed and some will be free.
Just 1000 more reasons to be part of London 2012.
On Langard Point - part of the Cultural Olympiad for the East of England
On Landguard Point is a series of extraordinary live
large-scale outdoor events and activities which took place in summer 2011, engaging thousands of people as participants and audience across the
East of England. These events collectively form the content of a new feature film, which will
premiere in 2012.
Inspired by the histories and culture of the East, On Landguard Point exists at an intersection between live performance, community and cinema – where the people and places of the East of England really do become the stars of the show.
Everything about On Landguard Point is participatory and accessible, offering meaningful experiences to every person present.
We are writing an
Encyclopedia for the East that tells the story of our region – its places, people, histories, myths, folklore, dreams and futures. Ideas, facts, anecdotes ranging from the personal to the poetic are all welcome.
Join in and share your experiences and be part of this project’s legacy for the East.
We ALSO want to hear about your
treasured recipes – the ones that taste of home. We want to make and share a
Cookbook for the East. Through sharing the cookbook we hope to communicate far and wide our universally diverse experiences of home and what it means to live here in the East.
