Olympics 27 July - 12 August 2012 and Paralympics 29 August - 9 September 2012

The countdown has begun for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games the most exciting sporting event the UK has ever seen. The world’s spotlight will be on Britain and here in Norwich you can make sure you make the most of this exceptional opportunity.

Lying on the eastern side of the country Norwich is exceptionally well-connected for the London Olympics – under 2 hours from London Stratford the heart of the Olympic Village by train. This means that with the excellent transport connections available, you and your friends, family and colleagues can enjoy the riches that Norwich and Norfolk have to offer and yet stay within easy reach of all the sporting and cultural activity.
Getting to London by Rail from Norwich

The mainline rail station for getting to the Olympics is Stratford Regional which sits on the Norwich to London line, meaning you will have direct access to the heart of the Olympic village in under 2 hours.

Trains depart Norwich station every 30 minutes to London and Norfolk County Council are planning to provide extra Park & Ride services to connect with trains.

Rail tickets will include free travel on London public transport for the day of your ticket.

Tickets are now available if you're a 2012 Games event ticket holder you can buy 2012 Games Train Tickets before everyone else. Train companies have assembled special fares from every station on the National Rail network to London and the co-Host Cities helping you to get to your 2012 Games ticketed event, including the opening and closing ceremonies. Plus Railcard holders can get discounts too.

Flexible tickets 2012 - Games train tickets have special terms and conditions that offer flexibility designed to suit travel to and from the Games.

Longer trains, more services - extra train services will be added and trains will run with more carriages in order to provide additional capacity at busy times.

2012 Games Train Services will also start earlier and finish later to help you to get to and from your Games event.

Train tickets are likely to get snapped up fast once they go on general sale, so make sure you buy now before they are available to the general public in April.

Getting to London by Road from Norwich

Major trunk roads to the Norwich area are the M11, A11, A12, A140 (from London, the south, the ferry ports and the Channel Tunnel) and the A14, A47, A1/M1 (from the north and west). Norfolk is approximately 2 hours by road from London.

Norwich also has a number of daily National Express coach services to London. The London to Norwich journey time is around 3 hours. All coaches stop at Norwich’s state-of-the-art bus station located in the city centre at Surrey Street. The bus station houses an information desk, café, secure cycle storage and comfortable waiting facilities.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no access by car to the London 2012 Games. The organisers plan for 100% of spectators to get to the Games by public transport - the aim is to be the greenest Games ever.

Getting to Norwich by Air

Norwich International Airport is just 4 miles from Norwich city centre. Domestic services provide a link to Norwich from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Guernsey, Jersey and Manchester. Amsterdam connects Norwich with around 1000 worldwide destinations.
