Norwich Cathedral is always top of the ‘must do’ list and it doesn’t charge you to take a look around. Norwich Cathedral has the 2nd tallest spire in the country, the largest cloisters in England and a history that dates back 900 years.
The Cathedral puts on a number of events throughout the year this

Organ Recital at 11am given by Andrew Parnell (formerly St Alban’s Abbey) Cathedral Nave.

Enjoy the
Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Car Rallyat Norwich Cathedral Close, Mon 7 Sep, 10.30 -4pm see all the vehicles on display in the Cathedral Close. On Sunday 20 September at 11am join the
Battle of Britain Commemoration Service . Attended by the Lord Mayor, civic dignitaries and RAF representatives. Open to all.
If you know your mustard, head to the Royal Arcade to see the
Colman’s Mustard Shop & Museum. Read about the history of Colman’s, see original posters and memorabilia and browse the shop for some retro keepsakes!
If you love walking then follow the
Elm Hill or Timberhill Trail or both produced by Norwich HEART. These fascinating trails will lead you through the Medieval streets of Norwich.
Norwich has many
parks and gardens where you can take a picnic and enjoy fun facilities. Try pitch and putt, tennis, cycling, play areas, giant chess, cafes and bandstands. Look out for the
FREE Bandstand Concert programme on Sunday’s.
The
Sainsbury Centre of Visual Art is an inspirational public art museum, at the University of East Anglia (UEA). It is a world-class Norman Foster building, where you can see fabulous art for free. This is a great place to go to Sunday morning for a coffee whilst the children amuse themselves with arts and crafts. It’s set in lovely parkland around a lake.
New archaeological dig at Caistor St Edmund. Excavations at the buried town of Venta Icenorum at Caistor St Edmund near Norwich are starting
29 August until 19 September. This is a very exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity to witness one of the most important but least understood sites of Roman Britain. The site is owned by the
Norfolk Archaeological Trust and managed by South Norfolk Council and
Dr Will Bowden of the University of Nottingham is leading the dig. Entry is free of charge.

Fusion, the largest digital gallery in Europe has some very interesting events on this summer in Norwich.
Art on the Railings This event is designed to enhance the city centre and promote just one part of Norwich’s rich and diverse culture by giving artists the chance to display their artwork in a space away from the traditional gallery setting.
Summer dates: Thursday 9 - Sunday 12 July, Friday 7 - Sunday 9 August, Friday 11 - Sunday 13 September.
Mark the 250th Anniversary of Norfolk Freemasons at Norwich Cathedral Sun 6 Sep, 3.30pm with a Choral Evensong and Act of Thanksgiving.
Heritage Open Days (HODs) – England’s largest and most popular voluntary cultural event celebrates all of Norwich’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to over 100 events and interesting properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

An exciting programme of
bandstand concerts is happening in Norwich parks this summer. The final concert will take place in Chapelfield Gardens in Norwich with a special Bandstand Marathon on Sunday 27 September at 2pm.
