The villages of Broadland offer you endless exploration with plenty of Norfolk B&B's and hotels plus exciting attractions to visit. These are some that you may come across on your travels.

Blofield

Blofield is situated just off the A47, with good local shops and pubs. There is a rail link at Brundall and a nearby Park & Ride for Norwich. Close to Ranworth Broad and Conservation Centre, Strumpshaw Fen RSPB nature reserve, Fairhaven Garden Trust and Strumpshaw Steam Museum.

Brundall

A popular boating centre on the River Yare with ample shops and pubs. St Lawrence's Church has a unique medieval lead font. Close to RSPB Strumpshaw Fen nature reserve. Rail connections to Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

Coltishall

This charming village has a pretty village green, antique shops and a thatched church. The Bure Valley narrow gauge railway has a halt here.

Crostwick

A village with a large wooded and heathland common, a haven for birds and wildlife, which gives access to the lovely 15th Century St Peter's Church. Extends north to a marsh-fringed tributary of the River Bure.

Drayton

An attractive and characterful village in the Wensum Valley close to Norwich. The long distance Marriott's Way walk, cycle route and bridleway connect it to Norwich and nearby villages.

Great Plumstead

Great Plumstead is thought to mean 'dwelling site near plums' and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. St Mary the Virgin Church contains medieval fragments of gargoyles around the tower.

Halvergate

A peaceful Broadland village between Acle and Great Yarmouth. On rising ground close to Halvergate marshes, it is an area well known for its superb bird watching and excellent walks.

Hevingham

An attractive village retaining its character with a mix of old and new houses. Close by is a large expanse of woodland and Buxton Heath. Both are extremely good for walking and wildlife.

Heydon

An unspoilt privately-owned estate village in a Conservation Area. It has appeared as a location in many film and television drama productions. There is a delightful village green, the 13th Century St Peter and St Paul’s Church and a white-washed pub.

Horsford

A pleasant location surrounded by heath and woodland. The small River Hor passes through the village and runs eastward beside Castle Hill, the site of an old motte and bailey castle.

Horstead

This village lies in an area characterised by water meadows and warm Norfolk red-brick cottages on the south side of the River Bure. Fabulous tithe barn next to All Saints Church. Excellent food at local pub.

Lenwade

Lenwade is set on the River Wensum with an attractive mill and pond, good village shops and pub. Home of the popular Norfolk Wildlife Centre and Dinosaur Adventure Park.

Lingwood

A compact village retaining its character with some lovely 17th and 18th Century houses set around the pond. Close to RSPB Strumpshaw Fen nature reserve with good local walks. There are rail connections to Great Yarmouth and Norwich.

Marsham

Set close to the Mermaid, a tributary of the River Bure. To the west is the extensively wooded Marsham Heath. The lovely 15th Century Church has a seven-sacrament font. It is an ideal base for visiting the Norfolk Broads, North Norfolk and Blickling Hall.

Rackheath

A bustling community set in rich farmland on the edge of the Broads. The fine 14th Century Church contains many memorials to the Pettus family who lived at Rackheath Hall.

Ranworth

The tower of Ranworth’s 15th Century church gives fantastic views over the Norfolk Broads. A reedbed walkway leads to the floating Conservation Centre and birdwatching hide.

Salhouse

A lovely village with many 18th Century thatched cottages running down to Salhouse Broad. Riding stables and good walks in the area. Rail connections to Norwich, Wroxham and Sheringham.

South Walsham
A pleasant broadland village with two churches just 20 feet apart! Fairhaven Trust’s water gardens are nearby.

Spixworth

Spixworth is a flourishing community set in rich farming land between Norwich and the Norfolk Broads. St Peter’s Church has a delicate slender unbuttressed tower.

Strumpshaw

Set among farmland to the east of Norwich, this village has a 14th Century church, pubs and a Steam Museum. RSPB Strumpshaw nature reserve, home to bitterns and marsh harriers, is nearby.

Swannington

There’s something of interest around every corner in this village, with its 13th Century St Margaret’s Church. It was here that Robert Kett, the leader of the Norfolk peasants’ revolt was captured in 1549.

Taverham

Taverham is attractively set in the Wensum Valley with 14th Century round-towered church. Extensive nursery and craft centre close by and Marriott's Way walk, cycle way and bridle path run through the parish.
