Wroxham Barns - Broadlands's must visit
Horning
Here are our suggestions for 1, 2 and 3 hours on The Broads and a 2 day and 3 day trip…

1, 2 and 3 hours on The Broads

From Wroxham we suggest in 1 hour to go to Salhouse where there are good moorings and nice walks. In 2 hours take your boat to Horning where there is an array of riverside pubs and shops and in 3 hours you can get as far as Ranworth where you can visit pubs, shops, the Tourist Information Centre and the church where if you climb to the top you can see a view of the whole of the northern Broads.

Two Day Trip

Day 1

Leave Wroxham and head down stream taking in Wroxham Broad on your way to Horning, stop off here for any last minute provisions or a bite of lunch.

Then head down stream to Ranworth. Moor here for the afternoon and climb Ranworth Church Tower to take in a wonderful view of The Broads. An Electric Ferry operates from here to take you to the Wildlife Centre, then you can amble back to your mooring along the boardwalk. For those in need of refreshment Ranworth is home to a pub, shop and restaurant. Not too far away in Woodbastwick you can find Woodfordes Brewery, famous for its real Norfolk Beer and good food.

Day 2

Time to leave Ranworth and head for How Hill on the River Ant. Visit the Broads Museum, woods and unique gardens. How Hill offers a wide variety of educational children’s activities. After lunch head back down to the River Bure, turning upstream back past Horning to take in Salhouse Broad’s play area enroute to the boatyard in Wroxham.

3 Day Trip

Day 1
Leave Wroxham and head down stream taking in Wroxham and Salhouse Broads on your way to Ranworth.

Day 2
Time to leave Ranworth and head for the River Ant. Stop off at How Hill where you can visit the catchers cottage, the museum portraying Victorian Life on The Broads. You may even get the chance to talk to marshman Eric Edwards neatly stacking dressed bundles of cut reeds for thatching. How Hill offers a wide variety of children’s activities such as puppet shows and story telling.

Leaving How Hill make your way across Barton Broad to Wayford Bridge an ideal mooring place.

Day 3
Why not spend the morning on land?Visit the nearby market town of Stalham and then cast off to moor at Gay’s staithe and enjoy a bite of lunch in Neatishead.

After lunch head back through Barton Broad to the River Bure, turning upstream to Horning. Horning boasts several pubs, restaurants, craft and gift shops, provisions, newsagents and even a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool which should keep you entertained for the evening.

The next morning it will take you just 1 hour to return to the hire yard in Wroxham for the 9am change over.
