Art Galleries in Norwich

Norwich has a fine tradition of turning out some great artists, and this is reflected in the number of galleries you can visit. The Castle Museum and Art Gallery holds many 19th Century landscapes from the Norwich School of painters, while the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts boasts an outstanding collection of contemporary and world art.

Sainsbury Centre
Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts

At the Sainsbury Centre you can enjoy fabulous art for free. You can find modern art including works by Pablo Picasso and Edgar Degas, and world art spanning 5,000 years of human creativity. Special exhibitions change every few months.

Norwich Castle
Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery

The Castle Museum and Art Gallery is home to some of the most outstanding collections of fine art, archaeology and natural history. With 8 different art galleries to choose from, you are guaranteed to find something you like.

Crome Gallery

In the galleries set in a Georgian merchant's house on historic Elm Hill you can see original oil paintings, 19th century and contemporary watercolours, prints and sculptures.

Artworx
Artworx

Artworx offers the visitor a chance to see inside the artist's studio where you can see works in progress, and browse through their collection of Artwork, Sculpture, Lifecastings and Unique Gift Ideas.


South Asian Decorative Arts & Crafts Collection (SADACC)

SADACC presents its extensive collection of the everyday arts, crafts and culture of South Asia at the Old Skating Rink Gallery, only 50 metres from the Forum.
Norwich Studio Art Gallery

Situated in a beautiful part of Norwich, Upper St Giles, this small gallery features paintings by resident artist Gena Ivanov. Gena paints many Norwich and Norfolk scenes and also produces special limited edition prints of the original paintings.

The Norwich Pub Picture Company is an offshoot of the gallery where Gena paints pictures of public houses in Norwich - they have proved very popular. Regular exhibitions are held at the gallery.

Mandell's Gallery

Mandell's Gallery is one of East Anglia's most respected galleries and was founded in 1965. Originally specialising in 19th Century Norwich School and Suffolk painters, the gallery has expanded greatly and includes 19th Century English and continental artists. Recent exhibitions have included contemporary arts and crafts as well as modern furniture.

Grapevine

Grapevine is a 10 minute walk from the center of Norwich. This fantastic gallery houses art from over 250 arts and craftsmen including paintings, ceramics, jewellery and glass and uses established and emerging talent. The gallery hosts many exhibitions from local and other artists and offers 'paint your own ceramics' where you can have coffee and juice as well!

OUTPOST

Situated in Tombland, Norwich OUTPOST is an charity artist run gallery. Founded in November 2004 OUTPOST is committed to the uncompromising presentation of contemporary art, resulting in a core programme of 12 exhibitions per year. Exhibitions run from the second of every month until the 21st - the first being the opening viewing for members.

A programme of events is also run that includes film nights, critical forums, group exhibitions and artists' talks.
