'Picnic in the Park' launches National Parks Week where all Britain's National Parks celebrate their special landscape and wildlife. Come and join the party with us at Nicholas Everitt Park. It's the Broads Authority's 20th birthday this year so there's plenty to celebrate. Get active with environmental activities, guided walks and canoeing or enjoy displays, crafts, local produce and much more. Bring a picnic and enjoy a day in the park alongside one of the biggest and busiest of our Broads. A great day out for all the family. Supported by Waveney District Council.

Broads Volunteering Taster Day

Northern Broads
Celebrate National Parks Week by trying your hand at conservation volunteering on the Broadland fens, home of many rare plants and wildlife from the swallowtail butterfly to the marsh harrier and bittern. You will be carrying out anything from haymaking to scrub clearance or footpath management so come and give it a try. No experience necessary. All safety equipment and instruction provided.

Whitlingham Woodland Survival Course

Whitlingham Country Park
Try to survive in the woods at Whitlingham. Course will include: fire making, shelter building, cave art, woodland construction, fire by friction, environmental projects as well as flint knapping. If you fancy having a go at survival techniques then this is the course for you.
Cost: £120, adult supervisors free. Suitable for ages 8 to 15 years.

Broads Wildlife Boat Trip

Ranworth to Cockshoot Broad and return
Come and explore the River Bure on the Helen of Ranworth reed lighter, a traditional Broads boat that marshmen used to carry bundles of reed in days gone by. Visit Cockshoot Broad within the Bure Marshes National Nature Reserve and find out about the unique Broadland wildlife and the habitats in which they live. Length of walk approx. 1 mile.

Ranworth Rover

Celebrate National Parks Week with an evening guided walk around the countryside footpaths surrounding the picturesque Broadland village of Ranworth. Learn about the local wildlife, the history of the area and find out just why the Broads are so brilliant. Includes a children's wildlife quiz and prize. Length of walk approx. 3 miles.
Cost: Free. Suitable for ages 6 year plus

This year our National Parks are 60 years old and the Broads Authority is 20 years old. Why not join the celebrations on an exciting exploration of Barton Broad in National Parks Week by twilight on the solar boat Ra? Come bat hunting with us and find out about the magical and mythical wildlife found in this special wetland. Can we spot 20 different birds and animals, one for every year of the Broads Authority? Discover how we are improving the broad for wildlife and people. Light refreshments provided.
