The Retas awards, launched in 2005 by Progressive Greetings Worldwide magazine, recognise excellence across the whole retail spectrum, from independents on the high streets, to the mini chains, national multiples, garden centres, department stores, supermarkets as well as non-specialist greeting card retailers.
Jarrolds beat off competition from the likes of Selfridges and the John Lewis Partnership to win the Best Department Store Retailer of Greeting Cards award. Suzie Abel was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of the Norwich store.
All the winners in all the retail categories were arrived at as a result of huge nationwide nomination process. Earlier this year, Retas forms were distributed to UK greeting card publishers, card reps and agents who nominated the retailers that they felt to be the worthy winners in each of the categories. Also for the first time this year card retailers were asked to nominate themselves.
