First ever Christmas fayre comes to Norwich 07/11/2007

Norwich will play host to its first ever Christmas fayre as part of an exciting programme of festive events in the city this year.

More than 50 speciality stalls, an ice rink and superb street entertainment will bring a festival atmosphere to St Peters Street and The Forum and surrounding area from Wednesday 28 November to Wednesday 5 December.
Shoppers will be able to sample delights of French, Italian, Polish and German food and wine, and buy gifts for their friends and family. There will also be good quality crafts such as Celtic and amber jewellery, hand-made soaps, stained glass, German Christmas decorations, textiles, cards and unusual household gifts, to name but a few.

And once you’ve sampled all the delights of the fayre, why not go ice skating at The Forum or watch some of the fantastic street performances.

Helen Selleck, events manager for Norwich City Council, says: “This is new for Norwich. We have seen how successful similar markets have been in other parts of the country and the French market has proved incredibly popular here.

“Norwich is one of the top 10 shopping destinations in the country and we think the Christmas fayre will be a great shopping experience and add something very different to what is already on offer.

“With all the stalls in the street, the Christmas lights and the wintry weather, it will feel very Christmassy and be something special.”

The Norwichristmas fayre will be open until 7pm on most evenings. Park and Ride will operate throughout.
