Creative children help Lord Mayor send Christmas greeting, 14/12/2007

A picture of a jolly Father Christmas drawn by a six-year-old boy is to adorn the cover of the Lord Mayor of Norwich’s official greetings card.

Jack Green of Hillside Avenue Primary School in Thorpe St Andrew was the overall winner in the competition run to design Norwich City Council’s civic Christmas card.
He and the three runners-up will join the Lord Mayor, Cllr Roy Blower, and the Sheriff of Norwich, Nick Williams, for mince pies and Christmas cake in the Lord Mayor’s parlour on Thursday 20 December.

Jack will get a special signed copy of the card and a £20 book token while the others will receive a £10 book token.

Runners-up were Jamie Kerry, 15, of Hobart High School, Loddon, for his civic crest, Edward Starr, seven-and-a-half, of Horsford Junior School, for his Christmas tree and Santa scene, and Tabitha Stutely, five, of Colman Infant School, Norwich, for her Christmas tree.

Tabitha’s picture will also be used on a corporate Christmas card sent out by Norwich City Council.

Cllr Blower said: “The standard of the Christmas cards submitted was excellent. It was very difficult to pick the winner and the runners-up.

“I would like to congratulate all the children who entered the competition.”
