See world class opera in Norwich 07/12/2007

High definition digital stereo sound and the best seats in the house!

New York’s Metropolitan Opera House is one of the grandest and most famous opera houses in the world. It enjoys an unrivalled reputation for staging lavish and spectacular productions that attract the world’s best singers.
Now audiences in Norwich can enjoy the thrill of attending these wonderful performances live without leaving the city!

Norwich’s Cinema city is screening the first of a series of 8 live by satellite broadcasts on Saturday 15th December at 6pm with a transmission of Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with state of the art HD quality pictures and stereo sound.

This ultra-sensual interpretation of Shakespeare is an ideal vehicle for the unique and incandescent appeal of the charismatic Anna Netrebko as Juliet. It is conducted by none other than Plácido Domingo and also features Essex born bass singer Robert Lloyd.

Forthcoming Live From The Met presentations at Cinema City include a New Year’s Day special with Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, an English-language production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s masterful treatment of the beloved story by the Brothers Grimm (Jan 1st, 6pm), a dark yet exhilarating version of Verdi’s Macbeth on Sat 12th January (6.30pm), Puccini’s Manon Lescaut (16th Feb, 6pm) and the sweeping orchestral beauty of Peter Grimes from East Anglia’s Benjamin Britten on 15th March at 5.30pm. The season continues to the end of April.
