Theatre and Cinema

Seasonal performances abound during November and December from musical theatre to the superb British tradition of pantomime at the Theatre Royal Norwich. Every year Cinema City (Norwich’s very own art-house cinema) shows It’s a Wonderful Life and all ages can enjoy puppetry and comedy at the Puppet Theatre and The Norwich Playhouse.

Performance

If you love music, especially at Christmas then you are in for a treat with a superb selection of concerts many of which are held in wonderful historic buildings. Norwich Cathedral has a vast schedule of entertainment and in such an atmospheric setting this is one venue not to be missed. Every year you will find concerts by the Norwich Philharmonic at St Andrew’s Hall, plus music at The Assembly House and the Norwich Theatre Royal.

Christmas Shows

Traditional Christmas shows are incredibly popular none more so than the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. This annual show is a sell out every year with a cast of over 100, attracting audiences from all over the UK - 2010 even saw a visit from Prince William and Kate in their first official engaement since their engagement!

Families

Keep the children properly entertained this Christmas with two months full of wonderful family events, shows, attractions and things to do. Take the inaugural NORWICHRISTMAS Tree Art Trail across the city and be in with a chance of winning a great family prize, enjoy school holiday activities at The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. See Father Christmas at Strangers Hall, Jarrolds and Thursford (he gets around!) and finish it all off with a laugh and a sing song at Norwich Theatre Royal’s annual pantomime – the year Sleeping Beauty! Phew!
