NORWICHRISTMAS
enjoy more of the magic!

To kick start NORWICHRISTMAS see the Christmas Lights Switch On at Norwich City Hall and Jarrold. For the first time this event will commence with a special candle lit procession through the city centre finishing at City Hall where former Canaries star Dion Dublin will start the count down.

A procession of paper lanterns will leave from the Great Hospital, Bishopgate at 6.15pm, weaving its way through some of Norwich’s best loved historical streets along Cathedral Close, Queen Street, London Street and Gentlemans Walk (map) - arriving at City Hall for the main city centre switch-on and fireworks at 7pm.
Further enjoy the hearty atmosphere in the lead up to Christmas across the city where you will be treated to an array of festive offers, events and promotions at The Mall, Chapelfield, John Lewis and Jarrold during November and December. Twinkly lights and decorative displays will play host to choirs, tastings, cookery demonstrations, launches and book signings including seasonal music and entertainment.

From mid November Norwich shops, businesses and public buildings will host colourful wooden Christmas trees with beautiful Christmas designs by local Norwich artists. These trees will form the NORWICHRISTMAS Tree Art Trail in association with Norwich Arts Centre. Across the city centre this exciting family friendly trail will run until Twelfth Night (5 Jan). Follow the trail, collect your stamps, enjoy exploring Norwich and be in with the chance of winning some great prizes.

Other Christmas highlights will include a white Christmas at The Forum, and that’s guaranteed! Once an hour, from 3 December until Christmas Eve, an artificial snow shower will fall in front of the building creating a festive treat for visitors. In addition there will be Christmas markets at The Forum, The Mall and Dragon Hall. Don’t miss the opportunity to indulge in quality Norfolk crafts and winter food and enjoy costumed stallholders, period musicians and so much more in remarkable surroundings or fine heritage buildings.

And if you want to immerse yourself in nostalgic celebrations, special exhibitions and evoking musical events head for The Forum, Norwich Cathedral, Norwich Castle, St Andrew’s Hall and St John's Roman Catholic Cathedral. Day and night you will find an enthralling programme of entertainment.

No Christmas would be complete without a visit to the pantomime whatever your age. Norwich Theatre Royal’s 5-week performance of Sleeping Beauty runs through to 15th January. Watch Hayley Tamaddon (Emmerdale) and Kevin Sacre (Hollyoaks) tread the boards in this traditional, funny, energetic production that is guaranteed to bring the house down!
