Established in 1936 Van Dal still make about 15% of their shoes in Norwich. They are in fact the last traditional ladies shoe factory left still mass producing in the UK.
The city of Norwich is the traditional home of ladies shoes. A point well demonstrated if you consider that in the 1960s there were 30 shoe factories employing over 12,000 people ,making 7million pairs per year.
FREE TOURS (Monday to Thursday. 10.30am & 1.30pm Pre-Book Only)
Our free factory tours are a great opportunity to see, first-hand, the craft and skill involved in making shoes.
Tours take approximately 1 hour and involve a short welcome and film along with an introduction to the process of shoemaking. A walk around the factory then follows which lasts around 30 minutes.
With an additional 10% discount in our factory shop it's also a great opportunity to stock up on your Van Dal shoes!
