Traveller information for the Broads

Inspirational, enchanting and full of secrets – the Broads is a magical world of whispering reeds, sparkling water and vast open skies. Neatly tucked into the heart of East Anglia, this marvellous area is not ‘on the way’ you have to make a special trip to discover it’s hidden delights – and here is how you do it!

By car

Access the Broads via the M11/A11 and A12/A140 from London and the South East. The A14, A47, A17 and A1 provide access from the Midlands and the North.

By rail - National Rail Enquiries 08457 48 49 50

There are half hourly rail services between London Liverpool Street and Norwich which take 1 hour and 50 minutes. Other services operate from London Kings Cross via Cambridge. Central Trains operate services from the Midlands, North of England and Scotland via Peterborough.

To connect with these routes in Norwich there is The Bittern Line and The Wherry Line providing excellent rail services to the Broads from Norwich - stops include Acle, Brundall, Great Yarmouth, Hoveton and Wroxham, Lowestoft, Oulton Broad and Salhouse.

Norwich station has a 24 hour taxi rank for onward travel. The station is central in Norwich with plenty of hotels nearby should you need to stay overnight.

By coach/bus

There are daily services operated by National Express providing access to the Broads from most major cities. For onwards travel by bus contact Traveline 0871 200 2233

By air

Norwich International Airport offers domestic routes from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Exeter, Jersey and Manchester and the Norwich/Amsterdam route allows to you to fly to Norfolk from 400 international destinations.
