A Christmas Walk through Norwich past: The Good, the Bad & the Festive

The festive season in bygone Norwich could be an eventful place. It saw the formation of the first police force, the last tram and the beginnings of a Victorian circus sensation. When local politicians banned Christmas it met with explosive results while extreme weather produced extraordinary art.

On our walk we’ll encounter the Christmas cracker, some weird entertainments, and we’ll find out why Charles Dickens, the Suffragettes and the Methodists were less than impressed with their frosty reception.
