Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures

The Sainsbury Institute is an academic research institute dedicated to promoting knowledge and understanding of Japanese arts and cultures. Founded through the generosity of Sir Robert and Lady Sainsbury in 1999, the institute is recognised for its leading research in Japanese arts and cultures from the past to the present. The Lisa Sainsbury Library housed in the Institute holds one of the most comprehensive collections of books and other resources on Japanese visual cultures in the UK and Europe.  The Institute is located in the heart of the city in the Norwich Cathedral Close and is affiliated to the University of East Anglia.
