Cycling around Norwich

Keep fit, keep green, keep pedalling

One of the best ways to see Norwich is from the saddle of your bicycle. Which also means tucking into a slice of homemade cake at one of Norwich’s pavement cafes can be cited as guilt free. Staying fit and having fun can be achieved together – really.

Norwich is home to some beautiful cycle paths, with cycle tracks from Norwich and Norfolk being focussed upon by national papers such as The Guardian.

Not to be missed whilst staying in Norwich is the Marriott’s Way, a 26-mile walking and cycle route following a disused railway line. Whatever season you’re in you’ll be surprised by its allure and abundance of wildlife. Or try Whitlingham Country Park just 2 miles from the city centre. Over a huge expanse of land you can cycle by the water as Whitlingham is the gateway to the Broads National Park, Britain’s magical waterland.

Cycling towards a green future

Hop on board Greater Anglia with your bike to enjoy cycling in the city or further afield whilst also helping the environment. But if you don’t have your own bike, at Norwich train station you can hire by the day. With cycling provisions like this in place there’s no reason to think about how you will get to or around Norwich.

Once you’re in Norwich you don’t have to worry about the safety of your lovely bike as Norwich is home to an automated secure cycle parking area. For as little as £1 you can be safe in the knowledge that your bike is locked away for up to 24 hours while you’re enjoying the city.

Pushing ahead, plan a visit around a cycling event

With cycling routes throughout Norwich and the surrounding areas you can plan a whole trip cycling around Norfolk, enjoying a healthy holiday and seeing the county at your own pace.
