MODERN LANDSCAPE: David Hockney and Claude Monet in the East End Gallery

From Sunday 11th April 2021 to Wednesday 1st September 2021

Many consider Impressionism to be one of the most important movements in landscape art, and Claude Monet to be one of its greatest exponents. On display is Monet's Allée de sapins à Varengeville. Painted in 1882, this work belongs to a period in Monet's oeuvre between 1881 and 1886, when the artist made frequent visits to paint along the Normandy coast.
David Hockney is one of the most important artists of British figurative art. He has always been interested in experimenting with new media. On display is Yosemite I. In 2011, Hockney made images depicting the dramatic landscape of Yosemite National Park in California using an iPad.

We are enormously grateful to the generous supporters who have loaned these wonderful works on a long-term basis.⠀

This event is free.
