Mozart Orchestra Autumn Concert: Arutunian 'Trumpet Concerto'

From Saturday 7th October 2017 19:30 to 22:30

Join the Mozart Orchestra for their final concert of 2017. The Merry Wives of Windsor overture provides an up-beat beginning to our final concert of the season, following which we are delighted to welcome local musician and emerging talent Alice Godfrey to the platform for Arutunian’s trumpet concerto.  This is a wonderfully virtuoso showpiece combining soulful melodies with melodic and rhythmic characteristics of the composer’s Armenian musical heritage.  Brahm’s second symphony, described as “all rippling streams, blue sky, sunshine, and cool green shadows” by one of the composer’s friends, concludes the programme.

Full programme:  Brahms 'Symphony No. 2 Op. 73';  Arutunian 'Trumpet Concerto';  Nicolai 'The Merry Wives of Windsor Overture'

Soloist:  Alice Godfrey

Conductor:  Martin Budgett

Leader:  Fiona Hutchins
