Born in Oman to an Irish father and Arabic mother, Sara spent the early part of her life travelling through the Middle East due to the nature of her fathers work. Perhaps unsurprisingly her listening influences were eclectic, varying between Erroll Garner, Wynton Kelly and Bud Powell to the great Arabic chanteuse Fairuz.
Although a highly accomplished 'cellist with a degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, since 2009 Sara has focused on her vocal career, establishing a reputation for her immensely emotional vocals, spell-binding interpretations of classic ballads and for the energy and vigour with which she tackles the up-tempo standards from the American Song Book. Her recent album From Shadows Into Light received five-star reviews.
