From Tuesday 25th June 2019 09:30 to Saturday 30th November 2019 17:00
The embroidered textiles in this display were created by women of the Dhebaria, Vaghadia and Kaachi Rabari communities that live within the Kutch region of Gujarat. Although each Rabari community has its own distinctive style, Rabari embroidery is instantly recognisable by its use of vibrant colours, mirrorwork and distinctive motifs, which include auspicious symbols believed to have talismanic properties.
These Rabari textiles were generously donated to the South Asia Collection in 2018.
