From Saturday 23rd September 2017 10:00 to 15:00
Wymondham Abbey is putting on an exciting Food and Drink Festival on Saturday with local producers, demonstrations, veg-tertainment from Madame Zucchini, the Abbey’s popular pop-up cafe and more.
Timed to coincide with the church’s annual Harvest Festival celebrations, the festival runs from 10am to 3pm. The emphasis will be on vegetarian and vegan food. This is an issue attracting more and more interest as people consider the ethics and environmental impact of the food we eat. Find out how you can eat well and look after our environment.
The Festival will have a number of activities designed to make it a really fun day out for all the family. Vette’s Veggie Van will be serving delicious food all day, Mooilicious will be serving ice cream and yoghurt, and stalls will be selling a wide variety of food. There’ll be beer, cider, chocolate, chutneys and much more. Among the children’s activities there will be a bouncy castle and face painting.
September is the time when all keen gardeners are harvesting the fruits of their labours. The Abbey organisers are looking for the best fruit and vegetables in Wymondham. This will be a fun competition, open to anyone who enjoys growing vegetables.
There’s also a Cake Making contest. This will be a fun event for children and young adults who enjoy baking, or maybe want to try their hand at it for the first time. Entries can be any type of cake or biscuit, large or small. Make them at home and bring them along. Entries will be split into two groups - up to age 13, and ages 14 – 21.
