Here we speak to Eliza Hull, spokeswoman for Court de Padel, to find more about this ever-growing sport!

Padel is a popular sport thanks to its accessibility and social community

It’s great to have Court de Padel here in Norwich! First things first, where can we find you?

You can find us at 5 Whiffler Road, Norwich, NR3 2AG (just off the ring road).

For anyone unfamiliar with the sport, can you tell us how padel works? And where padel comes from?

Padel is a racket sport usually played in doubles. It combines elements of tennis and squash and is played on an enclosed court where the walls are part of the game. This makes rallies longer and the experience more social!

The sport originated in Mexico and became hugely popular in Spain, where it’s now one of the most played sports. In recent years, padel has grown rapidly in the UK thanks to how accessible and enjoyable it is for players of all levels.

And why do you think padel is so popular?

Padel is easy to learn, social by nature, and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. You don’t need previous racket sport experience to get started, and because it’s played in doubles, it’s a great way to stay active while meeting new people. Many people love that it feels inclusive and fun from the very first session!

Norwich is your first location how did it come about?

Norwich felt like the perfect place to launch Court de Padel. There’s a strong community spirit here and a growing interest in wellness and social sport. Opening our first club in Norwich allowed us to introduce padel properly, with premium courts, high-quality coaching, and a strong focus on community.

In their 8 super panoramic courts, you can play in singles or doubles

What facilities do you have that make Court de Padel stand out?

Court de Padel has been designed to offer a complete experience, both on and off the court.
We have super panoramic courts, providing a premium playing environment. On-site, we also have the Body Reset Centre, offering physio and recovery services to support players’ wellbeing.

Our café serves sandwiches and hot food (including fruity smoothies and our popular steak sandwich), making it easy to refuel before or after a session. We also have dedicated warm-up and cool-down areas, as well as modern shower and changing facilities, helping players prepare properly, recover comfortably, and fit padel easily into their day.

Plus, our crèche means that parents can bring their little ones and enjoy a stress-free game or two, while we take care of them.

Do I need special equipment to play?

You can rent rackets and balls at the club, so there’s no need to buy anything before your first session (from £5, free for members). Our team is always available to help beginners feel confident and comfortable on court.

Court de Padel isn’t just a place to play, but a space to meet new people. Why is community so important to you?

Community is a core part of Court de Padel. Padel naturally brings people together, and we’ve built a space where everyone feels welcome, regardless of experience.

We’ve got dedicated sessions especially for women and mums, beginners coaching and more, so it’s easy to meet like-minded players and make friends along the way!

Padel is perfect for any age and Court de Padel’s facilities will keep the little ones entertained while you enjoy a session

What events can we get involved with?

We offer classes and coaching, alongside regular events, creating opportunities for everyone from beginners and regulars to parents and juniors.

We also run dedicated children’s padel lessons, alongside adult classes and coaching, ensuring players of all ages have the opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport in a structured and welcoming environment.

And throughout the year, you can keep an eye out for events to enjoy, including socials with a game or two and good food, and even tournaments!

Finally, how do I get started?
