How To Get Involved in Love Light Norwich

It’s only a month until the bright and bold Love Light Norwich returns! This free after dark celebration will turn Norwich into a stunning attraction with art installations, projections, performance and a procession!

But did you know you can get involved and become part of some of the events and installations? Why not try something new and read on to find out how you can become a part of the festival.

DeafPLUR

DeafPLUR by VJ Outlaw and Shaun Prickimage is an installation celebrating Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. And it needs you! The piece will be created from submissions by local people, of audio files and photos of British Sign Language inspired signing. Working within the local community of d/Deaf/Usher and hearing people, the artists will create a playful visual and audio laser show.

All you have to do is send in an audio recording of you saying Peace, Love, Unity, Respect, or photos of your hands signing the same. Your voice or hands may then be included in the laser show. The voice recordings will be included in the soundscape, and simple outlines will be drawn of your hands and projected using lasers!

Send your voice note and photos of your signing via WhatsApp to 07535594919 or by email by Monday 31 January.

When sending audio, leave a couple of seconds of silence at the beginning and end of the recording, and make sure there isn’t any background noise. When sending images, make sure you can only see your hands, and take a separate photo for each sign. See the image below for how to sign the words!

Mobile Light-Graffiti

This interactive piece combines live drawing with projection, creating an ever-evolving illustration that will light up the 14th Century flint walls of The Halls. Pop along and have a chat with the artist Nikola Dicke, suggest themes and content for the drawings and see your ideas come to life in real-time! Over the evening, the light drawing will change and grow, so you can come back multiple times during the night to see this ever-changing beautiful piece.

The Celestial Sound Cloud

Spend some time at the Celestial Sound Cloud from Pif-Paf which will be at Chapelfield Gardens throughout the festival. A beautiful interactive sound and light sculpture, inspired by galaxies far away, visitors will create interactive sound and light just by moving beneath the suspended installation. With each movement shifting light sequences and vocal harmonies are conjured – creating a miniature dancing and singing world.
