Chet Valley Vineyard tour and wine tasting experiences

Norfolk

Experience first hand for yourself the sights sounds and smells of sustainable vine growing and wine making at our family run award winning English vineyard just 8 miles south of Norwich. Every Saturday at 11am & 3pm, from April through until November we hold our “Vineyard Tour and wine Tasting Experiences”. We also run tours and tastings on Wednesdays and Fridays during the months of July, August and early September.

Our tours are led by John Hemmant the owner and winemaker and his experienced team who will show you the vineyard and explain how we use sustainable methods to tend our vines throughout the season from vine pruning when dormant in the winter, bud rubbing in the spring, leaf stripping in the summer through to our grape harvest in October. John will describe how as the second son of a local Norfolk farmer his roots are firmly situated in Norfolk where he planted his first vineyard and produced award winning sparkling wines over 30 years ago.
After walking you through his vines and describing the varieties that we grow, you will move to the winery where you will learn about the fascinating processes involved in transforming the hand picked and carefully selected grapes into our award winning wines. John has a particular interest in creating a wide range of English sparkling wines, white, red and rosé, and he will demonstrate the complex processes involved in making his premium product each bottle being hand crafted.

You will then enjoy a range of our still and sparkling wines from Chet Valley Vineyard upstairs in our large wine tasting area or sitting on the balcony enjoying stunning views across the vineyard to the surrounding fields beyond. You can also order a lunch to enjoy after your morning tour or before your afternoon tour or why not try one of our luxury picnics for two which you can book in advance to enjoy amongst the vines, on the balcony or if it’s a wet day inside the winery.

The interactive vineyard tour and tasting generally lasts around 2 hours although you may stay longer to chat over a glass of wine on our balcony or in our wine meadow beside the Coronation pond.
