Norwich Lanes

Certificate 12

Despite her father’s desire for her to be a classical painter, Tove Jansson (Alma Pöysti) soon finds success in illustrating and writing children’s stories about the enchanting mythical tales of the Moomin creatures. As her woodland creations begin to bring her international acclaim and artistic freedom, she is thrust into an all-consuming and electric affair with theatre director, Vivica Bandler (Krista Kosonen). Just as she begins to find her artistic identity, she also discovers the ache of true love.

TOVE is screening in partnership with Film East, a Norwich-based film programming group. The film was selected from their PROUD film collection, which features 18 diverse and insightful films that explore the vast spectrum of sexualities and identities on screen. The PROUD collection is part of Film East’s upcoming film criticism anthology, Queer Projections, which will be published on 2 June 2023.
