The sublime sounds of the Simon Brown Quintet, accompanied by vocalists Julie Hewitt and David Rees, return to the Maddermarket stage this April with a fresh springtime blend of swing and ‘hot club’ jazz standards from across the world.
Blessed with the sonorous tones of Zak Barrett’s clarinet and Phil Brooke’s irresistible rhythm guitar, gypsy jazz numbers such as “J’attendrai” and “Petite Fleur” really come to life, and Zak’s homage to Sidney Bechet in “Si tu vois ma Mere” could seriously bring tears to your eyes (in all the right ways!)
