There is music designed for dinner conversation, and then there is music that IS dinner conversation. Telemann’s Tafelmusik collection, published in 1733, combines the festive atmosphere of a long tradition of banquet music with a sociable, conversational quality – as though this time, it is the instruments themselves who are feasting. We’re pairing them here with a feast of orchestral and chamber music by Telemann’s colleague, J.S. Bach.
