PONY UP presents Red Mar

Norwich Lanes

Red Mar produce an experimental and highly visceral form of rock music. From early explorations in improvisation and drone, they have since established a group of multi-instrumentalist musicians who together create a precise and expressive form of noise-rock, while eschewing simple categorisation. With unorthodox approaches at the forefront of their creative process, as a result their live shows are uniquely confrontational, and their recorded material enveloping and unpredictable. With an equal measure of ritualistic grooves and repetition against a ruthless rawness, their pieces culminate as orchestrations of organised chaos.

The band hosts an eclectic array of influence ranging from the experimental rock of This Heat and Sonic Youth, minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and Julius Eastman, contemporary classical, and the many shades of folk and noise music, all tied together with the catharsis of punk and hardcore.

Since 2020 they have performed regularly within their home city of Norwich and the surrounding area, seeing regular spots at Voodoo Daddy’s and Norwich Arts Centre supporting the likes of New York Hardcore band ’Show Me The Body’ and Manchester psych-band ‘GNOD’. Recent changes to the groups lineup and moves to London have seen the band play regularly at the Windmill, the Lexington, George Tavern and more. Red Mar is Dylan Clarke, Miles Lukoszevieze, Harry Fisher and Acer Smith
