Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) is working hard to keep Norwich a well-connected and safe, welcoming city for you. In 2013 Norwich BID brought Norwich City Hosts to our streets, in 2017 Norwich achieved Purple Flag status and in 2019 Norwich BID doubled the area of their open Guest ‘Free-WiFi’ network.
Since their launch in 2013 our friendly city hosts have been pounding the streets and pathways of Norwich to make every moment in Norwich easier. With a passionate team of 50 volunteers they are available whether you’re looking for a spot to have a coffee, want to know the history of Norwich or simply directions to the cathedral. With a keen interest in everything Norwich, our City Hosts are always ready to help.
With free WIFI across the city you can surf with ease. The city open Guest ‘Free-Wifi-NorwichBID’ network is available 24/7 meaning without eating into your own data you can check out opening times, reviews or look up the weekend’s football scores – worry free.

Norwich has been recognised as a beacon of excellence in how a city centre manages the evening and night-time economy. As a certified ‘Purple Flag’ city, Norwich boasts a safe and enjoyable night out, any evening of the week.
Purple Flag is the national accreditation scheme for town and city centres at night. It is sought after as the ‘gold standard’ for night-time destinations, similar to Blue Flag for beaches. Places that are deemed to have a safe, high-quality and diverse night-time offer can fly the flag, and in November 2017, Norwich was awarded its very own standard of excellence for its nightlife. This is an accreditation that Norwich has received every year since our first application in 2017.
