For Norwich Christmas events 2022, read our round-up here.
If you’re an eagle-eyed shopper out and about in Norwich, you may have noticed that crowns are taking over the city. Nearly 100 businesses across the city have hidden crowns in their window and in-store displays as part of our Christmas Crown Trail!
But what is the Christmas Crown Trail? In partnership with Norfolk Museums Service, VisitNorwich and Norwich Business Improvement District have created this fun, free trail to commemorate a very special anniversary. 900 years ago, in 1121, King Henry I chose Norwich Castle for his Christmas Court and spent the festive season in the city. To celebrate with us, grab your free trail map and start a journey across the city of stories, discovering both old and new.
With so many crowns to spot, we’ve created four mini-trails for you to follow, taking you to different parts of Norwich. The Purple Trail is a real journey through time, starting at Norwich Castle and finishing at the Tunnel of Light. The Gold Trail takes you into The Lanes – Norwich’s independent heart. The Red Trail is perfect for those wanting a relaxing walk along the river and up to beautiful Elm Hill. And the Green Trail is for the real explorers – taking you to some hidden gems outside the city centre.
Ready to get out and about trail hunting? Pick up a trail map from our City Hosts, our Journey Through Christmastime pop-up stall at Norwich Market (stalls 138 & 139), or you can download a copy here. But before you head out, why not check out some of the incredible crowns there are to spot to get you excited?
