Darien Prophecy & The Innerheart Band (Reggae)

Gentleman’s Walk

1.20pm, 2.30pm and 3.40pm

Born in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica, Clive Darien – aka Darien Prophecy – was no stranger to music. A child who grew up in the Methodist Church, Darien started singing in Sunday school plays at six years old, and went on to join the children’s youth choir at ten. It was here that he developed his vocal talents, performing all over Jamaica in Gospel concerts.

In 1999, Prophecy recorded his first track, ‘Baby I Want You’, but it was not until eight years later that he released his first single ‘Natural Vibes’ on Sativa Records. This followed Darien’s emigration to England and collaboration with Gordon “INNERHEART” Mulrain, who was at the time touring with Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster and a range of reggae artists. Natural Vibes brought Darien recognition across Europe, America and parts of the Caribbean, staying at Number One in the Reggae France charts for several weeks and gaining abundant positive press. He toured extensively with the Innerheart Band, performing alongside a range of celebrated artists from Freddie McGregor, Earl 16, Anthony Johnson to Lovella Ellis and Dawn Penn.

The INNERHEART Band is a 5 piece-backing band for Reggae, Dancehall, R&B and Ska artists. The band is formed of musicians who have played for Jah Warriors, Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster, Dennis Alcapone, Winston Reedy, Judge Dread, Darien Prophecy, The Pioneers, Lady Sovereign, Lee Perry, Eliza Doolittle, Dawn Penn, Winston Francis, Susan Cadogan, LadyHawke, Phyllis Dillon, Owen Gray, Mark Morrison, Errol Dunkley, Linval Thompson, Natalie May, YT, Alton Ellis, Bob: Andy, Amberlique, Dave Barker, Pluto Shervington, Mint Royale and many other artists.
