Although we can’t deny the temptation of a chocolate egg (or two!), Easter is also a time for making memories with loved ones. So, with two weeks of school holidays to enjoy, there’s loads to keep the family occupied in the City of Stories and beyond!  
 
From egg-cellent egg hunts (always a favourite) to spellbinding shows and fun-filled activities. Whether you’re visiting friends, spending quality time with family or you’re here on holiday, there are so many egg-citing events (indoor and out!) in Norwich and Norfolk this Easter.

Easter Performances at Norwich Puppet Theatre
28 March – 11 April, various times and dates, adults from £13.50, children from £11.50 

Everyone loves getting lost in the magic of a story right? At Norwich Puppet Theatre, this Easter, there’s a whole host of puppet performances to enjoy, including an Easter panto (oh, yes, there is)! 

Start with Snow White, Rose Red, Bear Brown (Saturday 28 March, 11am & 2.30pm, adults £13.50, children £11.50) and follow twins Snow White and Rose Red as they discover why a friendly bear wants to join them. Then, Mother Goose (31 March – 4 April, 11am, 2.30pm & 7.30pm, adults £16, children £12) brings all the magic and hilarity you’d expect from a panto! Think outrageous villains (boo), glittering fairy magic and plenty of surprises! 

Later in the holidays, Hay (Sunday 5 April, 11am & 2.30pm, adults £13.50, children £11.50) is an accessible show exploring how one word can have many meanings as Farmer Geenie’s scarecrow grows up and discover his countryside home. Meanwhile, The Detective Dog (7 & 8 March, 11am & 2.30pm, adults £14.50, children £12.50) is adapted from Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie’s much-loved tale with BSL, captions and spoken word and made with d/Deaf families in mind, and Hello Egg (6 – 11 April, 10.30am, 12.15pm & 1.30pm, adults £13.50, children £11.50) is an ideal introduction to early years. Think interactive textures, bright colours and a heartwarming story of a curious little mouse who finds a mysterious big egg!

Easter Workshops with Creative Station at John Lewis
2 & 9 April, 11am – 12pm, children £10 

Fill your school holidays with family fun at John Lewis Norwich this Easter. Creation Station returns to this city centre location with their popular hands-on workshops!  

Unleash your creativity and make colourful spin art eggs to design your own Easter wreath, then decorate a wooden bunny to take home and use for many years to come!

Easter Activity Day at Redwell Brewery
Sunday 5 April, 1pm – 4pm, FREE 

Redwell Brewery’s popular activity day returns with an Easter twist! Think Easter egg hunt (with a prize at the end for the most eagle-eyed), crafts, including make your own bunny mask, and traditional games like a sack race, egg and spoon and pin the tail on the bunny!  

And for parents, you can tuck into a warming roast or slice of stone baked pizza and sip on a crisp pint. And don’t forget to check out Redwell’s Easter Craft Market (Sunday 29 March, 12pm – 5pm, FREE) for unique seasonal gifts!

Dragon Egg Trail at National Centre for Writing

Can you find all the eggs hiding in Dragon Hall? Join the Dragon Egg Trail to explore and learn about this incredible building, while taking part in crafts, storytelling and games!  

And for older children who love creative writing, see how this beautiful building and its 600 years of mysteries inspires you in workshop The Secret History of Dragon Hall with Rym Kechacha (11 – 13 years) (Tuesday 7 April, 10am – 12pm, from £2.50).

The Garage Silent Disco
Thursday 9 April, 2pm – 4pm, £7.50 

Step into your dancing shoes for The Garage’s first ever silent disco!  

With its ethereal fairy woodland theme, everyone is welcome to dress up and have a boogie. Perfect for little ones with lots of energy, performers in the making and families looking for a joyful afternoon activity, it’s time for a dance together!

Along the way, experience live animal Easter-themed talks (props included), high energy games and activities and Banham’s brand-new Easter stage show! 

Dippy’s Egg-cellent Easter at ROARR!

It’s going to be an egg-cellent Easter at ROARR! this April thanks to a whole host of fun-filled, action-packed adventures! Hop along to this dino-themed adventure park where chocolatey challenges and hidden surprises await (not to mention ROARR!’s popular attractions, including the Splash Zone).

Step inside Dippy’s Chocolate Factory for an immersive, interactive maze experience (and a sweet treat at the end). As you explore the park, keep yours eyes peeled each day for 1 of 5 golden tickets (if you do, you’ll unlock a special surprise!) and see if you can spot the 10 colourful Easter eggs hidden around the tracks and trails- successful egg hunters will have a chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Discover Pensthorpe’s vibrant Easter Garden, bursting with colourful decorations, nature-themed surprises and keep your eyes peeled for a hidden egg or two! There’s special chocolate treat for children who get involved and the chance to be some of the first to try Pensthorpe’s incredible new outdoor play area. 

While you’re here, get involved with flamingo talks, den building, decoration making and meet the reserve’s many chicks and goslings. Top it all off with a lovely photo to remind you of your day.

At BeWILDerwood this Easter, you become part of the adventure!  

Cedric the Easter Bunny is trying to put on the greatest Easter celebration ever, but the Pesky Bunnies keep causing mayhem. It’s up to you to choose your team, join the story and decide what happens.

And at the end of it, you’ll have a special creation to take home and a small Easter-themed treat too.

The Easter Garden at Holkham

This one’s for the little bunnies. Holkham’s tranquil Walled Garden has been transformed into an Easter-themed corner of eggs-itment! 

From the fluffy to the feathered, you can meet different adorable animals each day, including guinea pigs, rabbits, chicken, budgies, hedgehogs and ponies, before watching in wonder at the mind-blowing tricks of The Totally Amazing Magic Show! Plus, you can expect Easter races (egg and spoon, anyone?), bubbles and face painting. Not to mention a chocolate treat (it is Easter after all)!

Easter Egg Hunt at Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden

Springtime is the best excuse to get outside for a walk and get lost in the multicoloured blooms of Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden. And it’s even more tempting when there’s an exciting egg trail to solve (with unexpected surprises and a chocolatey reward at the end, of course)!  

And every little explorer will be given a bag of duck food to treat the garden’s feathered friends.

Rapunzel at Cromer Pier

Let your hair down and get tangled up in a brand-new musical adaptation of classic fairy tale Rapunzel at Cromer Pier’s Pavilion Theatre! 

The award-winning Immersion Theatre brings this exciting tale to life with a hair-larious retelling. A magical show for all the family, there’s laugh out loud moments for the parents and plenty of catchy songs to get stuck in your head. Not to mention dazzling costumes, animated scenery and audience interaction!

Meet the Kids at the Goat Shed
11 & 12 April, times TBC, £6 

The Goat Shed’s sell-out event returns this Easter!  

Known for their long, floppy ears and distinctive brown and white hair, the Goat Shed’s friendly Boer herd is expecting! This is your chance to meet and cuddle their newest arrivals and grab the perfect photo with the ‘coolest kids on the block’ (sorry).  

Sessions last 20 minutes, so you’ll have loads of time in the goat pen, and enjoy watching the kids as they bounce, bleat and show off!
