Whether you’re visiting Norwich for the first time or you’ve lived here for years, there’s always more to discover. And there’s no better way to do it than on foot, with a local guide who loves the place.

Norwich Free Walking Tour takes you through the heart of the medieval city on a relaxed 1 hour 45 minute walk, covering all the key highlights. You’ll start at The Forum and you’ll take in Elm Hill, the Norwich Lanes, Norwich Market, Norwich Castle, the Guildhall, the Arcade and Tombland along the way (a thousand years of history, and it never feels like a lesson!).

And it’s the extras that make it. The history and stories, of course, but also the local recommendations (best places to eat, where to grab a coffee, independent shops worth your time, photo spots you’d otherwise walk past) to help you make the most of Norwich, whether you’re visiting or you call the city home.

It’s all merit-based, too. No booking fee, nothing to pay upfront. You reserve your spot for free, enjoy the walk, and at the end you pay whatever you think it was worth (most guests give £10 to £20 a person, and cards or cash all work). If it wasn’t worth it, you pay nothing at all. Our goal is to make the city as accessible and open to everyone!

Groups are kept small, capped at 15, so your guide can chat to everyone and tailor the walk to the people on it. The pace is relaxed, the route is mostly flat and paved, and the tour runs in just about any weather (we are lucky that Norwich has such nice weather).

Book ahead as places fill up fast, especially over summer. You can reserve online in under a minute, and it’s the quickest way to fall for one of the best-preserved medieval cities and best places to live in the UK.
