Taverham Mill

Norfolk

Nestled along an idyllic stretch of the River Wensum and just a stone’s throw from Norwich, Taverham Mill boasts a dog-friendly nature reserve, Highland Cattle, fishing lakes, a play area, cosy café, seasonal canoe hire, and even overnight accommodation!

So whether you’re looking to catch up with friends, keep the kids entertained, go fishing or birdwatching, Taverham Mill offers the perfect setting to relax, unwind and get closer to nature.

Along the board walks, grassland, meadows and woodland of the reserve, you’ll find various hides where you can sit and enjoy the abundance of wildlife; from dragonflies and butterflies, to owls and other birds of prey.

During the summer and Autumn, you can see the nature reserve from a different perspective by hiring a traditional canoe and exploring the River Wensum.

Ideal for juniors, the day fishing lake is a perfect traditional coarse fishing lake with mixed species including tench, bream, roach, rudd, perch and pike, as well as a small number of nomadic carp. Angling is easily accessible with parking behind most angling spots.

If you want to make more than a day of it, our overnight accommodation includes free access to the nature reserve and fishing on the River Wensum. For more information, you can visit our website or get in touch.

Parking at Taverham Mill is free, so you can enjoy the café, Visitor Centre, play area and tackle shop free of charge. Access to the nature reserve is £5 for adults, £3 for children and £15 for a family. If you live locally and want to visit the reserve more often, you can buy an annual family membership for £50.
