Short walks for little legs

Looking for fun days out with the little ones? We’ve got you covered! Norwich is full of brilliant parks and gardens that make for the perfect family day out.

Plantation Garden

Located on Earlham Road, next to St John’s Cathedral, Plantation Garden is one of the city’s best kept secrets. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that this stunning 3-acre garden is minutes from the hustle and bustle of Norwich city centre! Enjoy stunning flower beds and lawns, woodland walkways, water fountains and beautiful Victorian-style greenhouses. Usually on summer Sunday Afternoons they offer homemade teas.

Chapelfield Gardens

A gorgeous green space in the heart of the city, Chapelfield Gardens is the perfect day out for you and the little ones. Grab a blanket and enjoy a picnic on the grass, while the kids roam the park and play area. In the summer, the band stand in the centre of the park is often used for free events and concerts, and the food stand offers coffee, snacks, and ice cream.

Castle Gardens

This peaceful little spot in the city centre offers stunning views of Norwich Castle and the city skyline. Castle Green boasts lovely green spaces and a play area for the kids to enjoy, with plenty of benches and shady spots for a picnic!

Eaton Park

Just outside of the city you’ll find Eaton Park, one of Norwich’s most popular heritage outdoor spaces. With over 80 acres of parkland and gardens to explore, and even a sizeable model boating lake, there’s hours of fun to be had. There’s also a great little café in the park where you can grab a nice cold drink in the summer, or a hot coffee on those cold winter walks. The little ones can even enjoy rides on the miniature railway line in the summer!
