Shopmobility

Shopmobility is located in Chantry Place shopping centre on Car Park Level -1.

Opening Hours
Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 4pm

Here you can hire electric scooters and wheelchairs for free. There is also an accessible toilet.

Please be aware Shopmobility is run by volunteers and may not always be open at the stated times.

Transport

Norwich is served by two main transport hubs- the Bus Station and the Train Station. Both accommodate passengers with accessibility needs. 

Norwich Bus Station 

  • All buses equipped with low floor and ramps 
  • Safe & Better Journey cards are available for communication with drivers 
  • A tactile map responds to React keys with audible information on facilities, bus stop locations and departure times. 
  • Norwich is a National Express accessible stop where a wheelchair lift can be deployed.

Norwich Train Station 

  • Step-free access

  • Passenger Assist available, including help with boarding and alighting, ramps, and the ticket office. 
  • Induction loop 
  • BSL interpreter service with SignLive 
  • Welcome Point interactive touchscreen giving station and journey planning information (including live departures, arrivals and a station map), as well as the option to call staff for assistance, tactile text, Braille, an induction loop and the opportunity to give feedback.

Freedom Transport Taxis 

  • Accessible taxis day and night across Norfolk 
  • Only accessible wheelchair taxi firm offering prebooking for evening taxis for those with mobility needs. 
  • Services include 24/7 emergencies, healthcare appointments, and transfers to Norwich and London airports.

Norwich Door to Door Mobility Transport

  • Door to door community transport service for residents of Norwich and the city’s districts
  • Accessible minibuses provide transport to appointments, clubs, shops, lunches and more.
  • Equipped with tail-lifts, steps, secure anchor points, DBS-checked drivers and passenger assistants.
  • Fares from £3 one way.
  • Available for group bookings.

Norwich Airport

Please inform you travel agent or airline if you need travel assistance at the airport. They will pass this information onto Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM). PRM’s helpline is contactable daily from 7am – 6pm on 07833 403180.
