A Valentine’s Week for Everyone Spent in Norwich

January is nearly over already, which can only mean one thing – Valentine’s Day is almost here! Whether you’re celebrating with a partner, or if you’re heading out with friends/family for the day instead, Norwich is the right place to be! This city is host to a variety of activities, food, and so much more.

Here’s some of our favourite Valentine’s suggestions for the day!

Activities

Every good day out in Norwich is made by what you can get up to. From the exciting to the relaxing, mind-boggling to the educational, there really is so much to choose from! For friends, families, and couples alike, what sticks out to you most in our list?

Gyre & Gimble – Make Your Own Gin Experience

Starting off with an activity for any gin lover(s) or couples looking to mark the day with something special, Gyre & Gimble’s Make Your Own Gin Experience is truly a day to experience at least once.

Become a ‘distiller for the day’ as you enjoy a range of gin and tonics and choose between over 30 botanicals to create your very own unique gin! Weigh the ingredients accurately and dilute your spirit before labelling your very own 70cl bottle to take home for all to see.

Not only that, but Gyre & Gimble take it one step further, as they store a file of your recipe, so you can go back and get another bottle whenever you like! The experience lasts around 2 hours, with booking essential at £75 per person. You can find Gyre & Gimble in the Royal Arcade.

Norwich Science Festival

The Norwich Science Festival really isn’t to be missed this year. Made up of a series of incredibly interesting events across the week, we’re not joking when we say there’s something for everyone!

For friends, you can enjoy a Raspberry Pi workshop and help astronauts take important measurements on the real International Space Station! For those who’d rather keep their feet on the ground, you can instead programme your own Minecraft, lights, or squishy circuits.

Couples can learn more about the psychology behind dancing and even pick up some moves with Dr Peter Lovatt in ‘Boogie on the Brain’, as the former dancer explains the cognitive side of hitting the dancefloor.

Finally, families can get involved with BBC Gastronaut Stefan Gates’ ‘Rude Science’, learning more about the sides of science no one wants to talk about. The best bit? That’s just 3 amazing examples of over 180 events on during the week!

The Science Festival spans across an entire week from 11 February – 18 February, so even if you’re not in Norwich on Valentine’s Day itself, there’s bound to be something on. You can find the full programme and how to book on the Science Festival website, how many events will you visit?
