Is there anything quite so British as a good old fashioned trip to the seaside? Whether it’s a cold and windy walk along the beach, scoffing down some chips, or enjoying a hot, fresh sugar coated-doughnut – we just can’t seem to resist the draw of the coast.
Over the past two years we’ve seen a host of fantastic travel programmes from around the UK. Showing off the best of our isles in all seasons. Inspiring us to take days out, city breaks and longer holidays. Enabling us to appreciate our amazing local food and drink, accommodation, geography and the wonderful travel experiences there are, just waiting for us to discover.
And in a brilliant NEW five-part series from Blink Films for Channel 4, ‘The Best of Britain by the Sea’, Ainsley Harriott and Grace Dent – two of Britain’s most-loved foodies, explore some of the best seaside holiday destinations (and one city, Norwich!) and dishes that the UK has to offer.
So, on Monday 30 May on More4 at 9pm (repeated Channel 4, Sunday 5 June, 4.30pm), pour a drink and settle down to a treat. Relax as Ainsley and Grace experience three very different locations in Norfolk, all in one trip.
This third episode in the series is a GREAT one. The two are a perfect coupling. Amicably chatting, laughing and really enjoying themselves. They take the viewer on a very honest journey. It’s a show with a difference, and it’s not to be missed.
Medieval Norwich and its most loved sights and places to eat and stay.
The tranquillity and beauty of The Broads and its thriving natural world.
All the fun, food, sea and sand Great Yarmouth has to offer.
From trying out some local delicacies and cheap eats, to enjoying high-end dining and fun holiday activities, Best of British by the Sea is a guide to Britain’s fantastic seaside at its best.
Each episode will follow Grace and Ainsley as they stay in a self-catering property where they cook for each other using their favourite produce, and a hotel where they meet the owners and chefs while soaking up the unique ambience of each gorgeous establishment. From their two delightful accommodations they explore the local surroundings and attractions, and experience hidden foodie hotspots.
Next week’s episode will also see Ainsley and Grace visit Norwich Market, The Assembly House, The Broads National Park, and fine dining restaurant Benedicts.
Is it a real trip to the seaside without spending some time at the amusements? And getting one (or two, or three) delicious treats while you’re at it!
