Norwich City of Stories Summer Trail

Taking place from 18 July to 31 August, the 2026 Norwich City of Stories Summer Trail is a FREE family-friendly, summertime treasure hunt across Norwich. Look out for storybooks in shop windows and crack the code to be in with a chance of winning exclusive prizes! And you can take part in special book-themed activities in venues citywide along the way.

How It Works

To celebrate this National Year of Reading and shine a spotlight on our city’s literary legacy, VisitNorwich is inviting budding book lovers to seek out clues hidden in summer windows. Make a day of it or spread out your visits across the holidays.

The City of Stories Summer Trail will guide visitors across the city centre, searching out storybooks and clues to be in with the chance of winning some exclusive prizes! Along the way, families may even uncover tales from Norwich’s incredible past, inviting them to soak it all in, stopping at local landmarks, welcoming shops or for a tempting treat at our many independent eateries. Look out for Norwich Summer Sessions every Sunday in August or unearth the stories of twenty of Norwich’s most important figures.

Can You Crack the Code?

Visit each storybook to find all the letters and reveal the hidden message.

Once you’ve cracked the code, please use the QR code found on the Summer Trail map to enter the competition, post your entry in the postbox in John Lewis’ toy department or Norwich Cathedral’s Hostry entrance or email [email protected]

Entries must be received by 4th September 2026. Good luck!
