Norwich is famously a historic city, beginning life as a Saxon settlement, and from the Middle Ages until the industrial revolution was the second largest city in the UK.
By now we’ve no doubt you know Norwich is the city, not only of stories, but also of secrets. Secrets waiting to be told with a fascinating history to be shared – it’s what makes Norwich the vibrant area that it is today.
Norwich is a city filled with ancient streets and alleyways, beautiful heritage sites and plenty of stories. So here’s a whistle-stop history lesson – brief but hopefully informative – taking us from the days of the Icenis through to the present day.
